About

What began as a platform for our own artists’ books and sound works has blossomed into a publishing house over the years. At the very core of our interest lies a dedication and commitment to experimental approaches that transform ideas into tangible publications. Under the design leadership and the editorial guidance of graphic designer Astrid Seme and artist Thomas Geiger, our collaborations thrive on the synergy between artists, designer, editor/publisher and institutions. Mark Pezinger Books began its journey in 2009 under the direction of Karsten Födinger and Thomas Geiger. Shortly after Astrid Seme joined the team. Since 2015, Astrid Seme and Thomas Geiger have been steering Mark’s lively course. Both share a passion for artists’ books and their history, and have the ambition to carry this tradition into the future with Mark Pezinger Books.

Submissions

As the collaborative process is a fundamental part of our practice, we do not accept publications that have already been edited or designed. Due to the large number of submissions we receive, we can only respond to those we are interested in and want to learn more about.

Distribution

Depending on the book title and content, we work with various bookshops. However, there is also a fine selection of international bookshops that have most of our publications in their programme: Boekie Woekie (Amsterdam), Cabaret Voltaire (Zurich), Printed Matter (New York), The Book Society (Seoul), Material (Zurich), Kunsthalle Basel, London Centre for Book Arts, Serralves (Porto), Softcover (Vienna), The Good Press (Glasgow), The Library Project (Dublin), NorthEast (Tokyo), Leporello (Roma), Walther König (Vienna).

If you would like to be included in our distribution, please contact us.

Shipping

We try to keep the shipping costs as low as possible. For orders over 100 the costs are on us. And please don’t be surprised by the packaging. For ecological and economic reasons, we only use used packaging material.
